Chris - Lead Game Designer


In this interview, we are talking to Chris. Chris is our Lead Game Designer along with being our Sound Designer.  We asked Chris the following questions.

  1. What was your focus in the lead up to the Alpha.
  2. Is there any additional gameplay or features you would have like to have had in the Alpha.
  3. What have you learned/taken away from the build-up to the Alpha.
  4. What part of the Alpha are you most proud of
  5. What are you most excited for the player base to see

The following are his responses to the above questions.

  1. My focus was to show a clear vision and idea of our game-play and narrative to the player.
  2. Unfortunately, there were a few additional game-play features we would've liked to implement however as a team we realized we didn't have the time to add these features - that said we are now looking to add a few nice tweaks and an interesting new puzzle which we hope the player will enjoy
  3. The alpha milestone has been a huge goal for the team at 5works - In January we had a constructive retrospective meeting to discuss what is going well, What is going bad and how to improve. We wrote down goals that we were able to achieve for the alpha and we hit those. Our alpha is in a good state for us to build on and to improve.
  4. I am very proud of the whole project itself but when I played my first play-through with the addition of the voice acting it made the whole experience come to life.
  5. We have a few features and ideas we want to implement for the Beta version. If we get all these working and bug free, the player will have something special to play.
